From Mike and Luke: We arrived in Malaga, Spain (from Mallorca) on a Sunday evening, waking up the jet-lagged Butterlys to get into the shared AirBnB and get them to join us for dinner. We were excited to see them - Kiera and Dillon right away started to write about Warrior cats.
We had tapas until 9:30p, and then strolled outside of the restaurant to see a long line having formed outside the restaurant because Mediterranean countries eat dinner crazy late. We were staying in the old town, and Malaga quickly became one of Mike’s favorite cities. The area is quaint, but there are only friendly locals and a happening night life that stays at a reasonable volume instead of many other tourists and the dominant industry catering to them.
On Monday morning, we toured Alcazaba, a fourteenth century fortress built by the regional Muslim dynasty of the era. We ended up at the beach and saw a zipline (just like the one from the park during Grandpa's 80th birthday) - we obviously went on it.
The next morning, we toured the PIcasso Museum, and one of his works really spoke to Luke. However, Picasso's pretty bad personal life also spoke to Simone. In the afternoon, we ended up back at the beach. This time, we went to a floating waterpark for an hour, - it was like a jungle gym on the ocean - which in Luke's words was 'literally epic'. Even Ryan got to swim out from shore and climb up and over many obstacles.
We had to go on Wednesday, unfortunately, because this city is fantastic. The Butterlys drove via Grenada, while we trained to Madrid and then to Valencia.
